Sweets for my sweets

Today was a busy day! This morning I had breakfast to celebrate my uncle’s birthday and this afternoon we had an epic dessert picnic for dear Kathleen’s birthday tomorrow. We all brought something, so there was too much food. Too much delicious, lovingly made food! Cupcakes, slices, brownies, biscuits and cakes – I’d never seen so much dessert in my life and I’ve been to High Tea! There was also a macaw at the park, apparently his owner brings him down often. He was flying all over the place, swooping people and landing on them but he was generally well behaved. Shortly after the above photo was taken (by Kiki) he landed on my back and started pecking at my hair!

  1. It's not secret at all! It's this recipe but I wasn't very happy with how it turned out. Kind of dry… I think it might have something to do with either our poxy oven or the very old cake tin I have.

I reckon you could just take your favourite cake recipe, split it in half, and colour it however you want!

  2. You looked even lovelier in the flesh. I really envy your ability to colour match. I suck at it (hence the all-black look yesterday!).

Your cake looked amazing too. Can't wait to give it a try myself. Will contact you re coffee later this week.

  3. your dress is really nice!!
and the cake looks amazing, especially with the pink frosting. im def gonna try makin one the same!!! love zebra print!

  4. I think I know the macaw! If it's the one I think it is, its owner is the Auchenflower vet, and sometimes takes it to the Valley for icecream.

  5. Thank you!

The cake was a little dry, but I'm not sure if that was because of my old cake tin… I had to cook it for an extra 20 minutes before it was properly baked! You could probably just split your favourite cake recipe in half and colour one of the portions and do the pouring methodology.

  6. The owner was quite nonplussed by all the attention, and was really dry! I sort of expected him to be quite a big personality to own such a crazy awesome bird :D
